Renovating 40 Year Old Japanese House

October 8, 2017

It is hard to believe that the standard practice in Japan is to demolish and not recycle anything from an old house. They simply knock it down, send everything away as rubbish, then rebuild a brand new house.

After Lenken peeled back the layers of this old Japanese house we found all the exquisite timbers, as they were 40 years ago, with the most intricate craftsmanship and structure that's more solid than the day it was built. Apart from some layout and window placement changes, the majority of this solid shell will remain in place.

Lenken will be recycling as much as possible to turn this 40 year old house into 2 Beachside Townhouses, so that everyone can enjoy this stunning location and building.
